I was craving a ribeye, and after reading excellent reviews about this place, my coworkers and I decided to share our meal. To start, we ordered Scallop Crodu, Poke, and Bone Marrow. The Scallop Crodu and Bone Marrow were delicious, while the Poke was just okay. Our main course was a 32 oz Ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Unfortunately, the Ribeye was just average for the price, as I've had better at other steakhouses for less money. The mashed potatoes were good, but the asparagus was overcooked and mushy. On a positive note, our server provided excellent service.
I'm torn about this place. I placed a reservation. Showed up on time. And they still made us wait 20 minutes (same time as standby people it seemed) so it was off to a weird start. When we were seated it turned out waiters were nice but were attentive in odd ways. Such as I ordered a drink and the second I was done it was off the table but they didn't ask if I wanted another. I had to wait to get their attention and ask for another that took a bit. And when we asked for boxes they knew we had sauces but only gave us boxes. It wasn't until we were placing the sauces in a box that the brought the smaller containers for sauces... It was honestly just small things that made it an okay and not good experience. The food was good. I enjoyed my pork job and the steak was good. It's good for the area but I am unsure if I'd give it another try in the future when half what you are paying for is an experience.
Our initial experience at this establishment was fantastic, prompting a return a week later to ensure it wasn't merely a coincidence. The second visit to Old Brea Chop House, while slightly falling short of the first, remained very enjoyable! In my humble opinion, there's room for improvement in ensuring the host staff and management consistently provide an inviting atmosphere, extending the warm welcome to all guests, not just regulars.
Similar to our first visit, the ambiance and service were amazing, creating a delightful atmosphere. Zach, our bartender, stood out with his attentiveness and informative responses about entrees and other menu items. A special shout-out to the bar staff for recognizing and celebrating the Marine Corps birthday and Veterans Day with us! These thoughtful touches truly enhance the dining experience.
This time, I opted for the burger based on a previous recommendation, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. It was the most under-seasoned burger I've ever had--just a sprinkle of salt and pepper could have made a significant difference. The brick-grilled Mary's chicken also lacked seasoning, despite being perfectly cooked.
On a brighter note, the ricotta gnocchi with crab, BBQ shrimp, and grilled oysters were absolutely perfect and lived up to expectations. Despite a couple of disappointments, the overall visit was enjoyable, thanks to the excellent service and those standout dishes. Anticipating my next culinary adventure!
It was a birthday surprise dinner :) my boyfriend made reservations here and he did good!
The atmosphere looked like a traditional steak house. For a Tuesday it looked busy with special holiday events and birthday celebrations. Although we had reservations it took a minute to get seated. Once we were seated it took a bit of time to get our drinks ordered and appetizers ordered. I was super surprised though how quickly the drinks and food came out. Loved the music in the restaurant, wish I was able to hear it better but like I mentioned it was a busy night. Perhaps, that’s why it took awhile to order our drinks, apps and food.
I had the Manhattan Milk Cocktail. It was delicious! It’s their version of a Manhattan and hit the spot. Then we had the scallops for an appetizer and they were so delicious! The citrus and soy sauce just was Devine and we were sad only 6 in the order haha
Then for our main dinner we ordered the chef’s special which we chose for ribeye cap (20 oz), with Gnocchi mushroom in a black truffle sauce and brussel sprouts with bacon as our sides. We ate every bite, even though we were so full! I was recommended the Hoopes Cabernet Sauvignon and it complimented the dinner so well. My bf had the nitro brew cocktail and not particularly his favorite. The meal came with a butter cake and they also gave me a toffee cake for my bday. We were not going to say no to two desserts! Both were so delicious!! I would have finished it but we were so full!!
So glad he chose this spot.
Came here for the 1st time and I would come again and recommend it to anyone. We started out with the Roasted bone marrow! So scrumptious when you eat it with the bread and salad it comes with! It was followed by the Roasted Beet Salad which was very flavorful and refreshing, I couldn't get enough... kepp in mind I hate beets, but this salad was incredible. Our main entrée was the Rib Eye Steak, a 1.5 lb lobster tail, Mac & Cheese and the Wild & Field Mushrooms. The lobsters was slightly undercooked from the bottom but this was a thick lobster, the majority was cooked and delicious. Steak was perfectly a medium rare and the sides did not disappoint one bit. An amazing experience all around. Got there in time for our reservation and we were seated immediately. We sat right across the kitchen. At first I though it would bother me seeing all the activity from the kitchen but I found it lovely and enjoyed seeing all the different dishes passing by. Restaurant is dim, loud and perfect for first dates, anniversaries, celebrations and pretty much any adult occasion.
This is the best steakhouse I have ever been to. There are food options to satisfy almost everyone. The French onion soup is almost a meal in itself and incredible. Then the steaks are nothing but awesome. The chef also knows how to cook them perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. They were also great dealing with my wife’s allergies.
Sorry for not taking more pictures but we were so busy eating such a great meal, I forgot to take pictures 😢
If you want the best dining experience, come here.
Excellent service by all members the moment you walk in.
It was pretty packed when we arrived, so the reservation we had did take a moment to be seated. The hostess team helped by getting our drink orders in while we wait. I'm happy as long as I have alcohol while waiting😄
The swordfish was a delight. It was tender but still juicy and not dry at all. Not too salty and the sauce on the side is great to pair with.
The scallop crudo was sweet and refreshing
The burger was very filling to say the least but it was great. Standard burger without overpowering sauces. It was perfectly medium rare as requested.
I think it's a nice place to take your special someone to t take and have an intimate celebration.
Delicious and great for steak varieties! Many different sizes and cuts with sides and sauces to go along. Fish selection is great too.
